Welcome

Welcome to Delaney Foresight. Our aim is to better understand the people, events, trends and drivers shaping the future and to explore their current and potential impact on people, organisations, and the built and natural environments. We work with you to create and maintain a high-quality forward view, to detect threats and opportunities before they reach mainstream awareness, to guide policy, to shape strategy and to improve delivery on the ground.

Future outcomes can be influenced by our choices in the present. Improving your capacity to critically and creatively think about and prepare for the future strengthens decisions you make today.

     ideas from the edge

As of July (2011) South Korea’s fair trade watchdog requires influential bloggers (and people who use Twitter and Facebook) who get rewards from companies in return for favourable reviews of products to disclose their commercial relationships. Companies must also report these relationships. The UK’s Office of Fair Trading made a similar move earlier in the year and the US has had these sorts of rules since 2009. Enforcement will be difficult. An interesting example of regulation of the web for consumer protection purposes. It raises the question of future regulation of new media and how it will be enforced.
